OMCRA - The Ausable River Canoe Race

Ausable River Canoe Race

Sunday, May 6, 2007

For 2006 this race has moved to an earlier date. This will hopefully offer higher water and a focus point for early season training. Excelling in this event requires excellent water reading skills, the ability to draft other boats and take advantage of the waves. The river follows a beautiful winding course through trees and farmland. The water levels vary with rainfall but this race always has some challenging shallow water stretches.
START AND REGISTRATION: The municipal dock on the south side of the river, just before it enters the lake, in Grand Bend,
Ontario. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. with the races starting at 10:00 a.m.

FEE: $15/C2 and $7.50/C1

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 40% deep water, 60% shallow water on a river with no portages.
